Finally, you have the faith and courage to get your story out into the world. But there’s one problem...
You have so many ideas. You have so much to say.And now, you’re starting to wonder…
What will my family think? What will my friends say? How will my parents feel when they read my book?
As soon as you get serious about writing, all of these questions and a few more start flooding your mind. But let me comfort you with this truth: these thoughts are normal.
Doing something you've never done before like writing a book is going to stretch you. It may stir up fear, Doubt, Insecurity, Even feelings of guilt and unworthiness. But the good news is this: those emotions don’t have to control you.
You're already defeating them by taking the first step reading this blog, opening your mind, and leaning into the vision God placed in your heart. I believe everyone has a story. But the easiest thing to do is limit your story to just your close friends and family because sharing it with the world looks too scary. That’s vulnerable. My goal is to help you trust God and take your next step to write with boldness.
Step out of your comfort zone
“Comfort zones might feel safe, but they’re not where transformation happens. If you’re called to write, you won’t find peace in silence you’ll only find purpose in action.”
Let’s talk about the space between your calling and your comfort. That space is where your book is hiding. It’s not that you’re incapable. It’s not that you don’t have time. It’s that stepping out makes you vulnerable. It exposes your story to the world and invites judgment, critique, and perhaps scariest of all, impact on a scale thats greater than your perception of yourself.
But I’ve got news for you: God didn’t give you that story so you could sit on it. He gave it to you so someone else could get free from it.
The Truth About Comfort
Comfort zones are deceptive. They make you think you’re protecting yourself from failure, but what you’re really doing is hiding from your own power. You’re not afraid of writing the book you’re afraid of what happens after it’s done.
What if no one reads it?
What if I sound foolish?
What if I fail?
But let me ask you this: what if you don’t write it? What if someone’s breakthrough is on the other side of your obedience and you never deliver the message?
The Enemy Isn’t Time, It’s Timidity
One of the greatest lies the enemy will whisper is “you have more time.” No, you don’t. Every day you delay, someone else is stuck in the very pain you’ve already overcome. Every excuse is a permission slip to stay average. But you weren’t called to be average.
You were called to be impactful. You were called to share. You were called to write.
That tug you feel? That’s not just ambition it’s assignment. And assignments require action, not comfort.
Your Book Is a Weapon
There’s power in your story. There’s power in your pen. And the moment you start writing, you activate that power in ways that go beyond you. Your book isn’t just pages and chapters it’s healing, deliverance, instruction, and strategy.
You don’t need a degree. You don’t need a perfect outline. You just need to start. Write messy. Write afraid. Write in faith. But for the love of your calling, write.
God Is Not Asking You to Be Perfect Just Willing
You’re not writing for applause. You’re writing for alignment. God doesn’t bless perfection, He blesses obedience. And if you're waiting to feel confident, let me tell you what I’ve learned: you don’t write because you're confident you become confident because you write.
Take the First Step
You don’t need to finish your whole book this week. But you do need to start.
It’s not about writing a bestseller overnight. It’s about building a habit and gaining confidence through action. Here’s how you do it step by step:
1. Open a Blank Document and Title It
This may seem simple, but it’s symbolic. Opening a blank document creates space for your ideas to live.👉 Title it: My Book. My Voice. My Impact. The title isn’t permanent but the act of claiming the space is.
2. Write One Paragraph About Why This Book Matters
Forget the chapters and structure for now. Ask yourself:
Why do I feel called to write this book?
Who do I want to help?
What pain, struggle, or breakthrough am I carrying that can free someone else?
This paragraph becomes your anchor. Revisit it every time fear shows up.
3. Schedule Writing Time Daily (Start with 10–20 Minutes)
You don’t need hours. You need consistency. Choose the time of day when your mind is clearest early morning, during lunch, or before bed. Put it in your calendar. Set a reminder. Treat it like an appointment with your future.
Consistency builds credibility with yourself.
4. Use a Simple Writing Prompt Each Day
To prevent overthinking, start with a focused prompt:
“One moment I’ll never forget is…”
“I used to believe ___, but now I know ___.”
“If I could speak to my younger self, I would say…”
Prompts eliminate the pressure of writing “perfectly.” They help you access your story.
5. Create a “Victory Log” to Track Your Progress
Start a simple log:
Date
Minutes written
What you wrote about
One takeaway from the session
This helps you see your progress and reminds you that you’re doing the work, even on tough days.
6. Silence the Inner Critic
Every writer hears the voice that says:
“This isn’t good enough. Who do you think you are?”
Write anyway. When self-doubt kicks in, speak this out loud:
“I am not writing to impress. I’m writing to impact.”
7. Remind Yourself: Progress Over Perfection
Perfectionism is the enemy of obedience. You’re not trying to win a Pulitzer prize, You’re trying to obey a prompting from God. Your first draft won’t be pretty it’s not supposed to be.
Done is better than perfect.Obedient is better than impressive.Authentic is better than polished.
Your book won’t be written inside your comfort zone. It will be written in your courage zone.
Step out. Speak up. Write what God placed in you. Someone’s freedom, clarity, and healing is tied to your obedience.
If you’re ready to finally stop sitting on your story and start building something that transforms lives, I invite you to take the next step.
